Previous reporting of William "Billy" Hart's death in 1895 was in error. That report was based on Doddridge County
Probate Records (Bk 1, p. 168) showing that on Aug 13 1895, Isaac Husk was appointed "guardian of Rosa (sic) A. Hart,
orphan of William Hart and Sarah J. Hart." Sarah Husk Hart had died in Jan 1879, and Isaac Husk was the child's
grandfather. Billy Hart remarried his cousin Mary Catherine "Kate" Hart in Sep 1879, and they later divorced,
presumably prior to the 1895 court action for guardianship. Harrison County Marriage Records show that this William
Hart remarried Eliza Harlow on Jan 4 1901.
Subsequent reporting of his death occurring on Jul 8 1927 was also incorrect. That was based on a family history survey
conducted by W. Guy Tetrick in 1931 and completed by William's nephew John W. Hart, stating that William Hart was born
on June 5 1850 and died on July 8 1927. Both of those dates have since been found to be incorrect.
Age 19 yrs 6 months given at time of William's marriage in Apr 1870 would put birth date at about Oct 1850. More
significantly, Harrison County death records show that William Hart, widowed, born Sep 26 1850, died Feb 14 1924 in the
town of Ocean Mines (Simpson District), burial at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. (Headstone there is hand-inscribed with
birth date 1850, but incorrect death date of 1923.) Identificaton of his parents as William Hart and ___ Harlow by
informant George Hart of Ocean Mines (relationship not stated, but determined to be William's son) is considered an
error, apparently stemming from the informant providing the names of his own parents, rather than those of the
deceased.

Note (3) While her headstone shows a birth date of Apr 9 1828, researcher Don Norman
states her birth as 1816, and grandson John Washington Hart, in a family
information survey completed in 1931, reports it as Apr 9 1814. But those two
dates are considered unlikely given the birth of her last child in 1871.
Note (4) Grandson John W. Hart, in a W. Guy Tetrick family information survey
completed in 1931, reports her date of death as Mar 24 1872.
Note (5) Age 64y 7m 18d at death would put birth date at Nov 6 1846. But his
obituary, which also states his age as 64y 7m 18d, specifies his birth date as
Sep 6 1846. Age given at Aug 1867 marriage was 20, and at Aug 1888 marriage
was 41, both of which would support a birth date in Sep or Nov 1846. Other
sources have given his birth date ranging from abt 1844 to abt 1849, to include
the 1900 Census listing his birthdate as Sep 1847, and a family information
survey completed by son John W. Hart in 1931 which reported the birth of Andew
N. Nutter as Sep 6 1848 in Harrison Co. His birth place was reported in his
marriage record as Doddridge Co, in agreement with his death record. It is
noted that prior to Doddridge County's formation in 1853, much of was a part of
Harrison County.
Note (6) Wes Cochran's "Doddridge County WV Marriages 1845-1937" gives marriage date
as Oct 30 1867.
Note (7) Although his death record shows location of death as Ocean Mines in the
Simpson District of Harrison County WV, his obituary specifies location as "at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. L. Cox, of Cortwright Mines addition, near
Bridgeport." It is noted that his son, George Hart, informant for the death
record, was a resident of Ocean Mines.
Note (8) Small hand-inscribed headstone has birth date 1850, but incorrect death date

Note (10) Undated obituary clipping states only that John Eli Hart died "Tuesday
afternoon" at age 76. Headstone for double grave of John Eli Hart and wife
Salome has her birth & death years (1867-1930), but only his birth year of 1866.
The obituary also stated that his first wife, Salome Cain Hart, had "died ten
years ago." These discrepancies are clarified by his death record, which states
that he was born on Jan 15 1865 and died on Apr 22 1941 at age 76y 3m 7d.
Note (11) Wes Cochran's "Doddridge County Deaths" lists the death of "Juhette Hildman"
on Jun 6 1909. Undated and partly illegible obituary clipping states that she
died June 6th at age 44 years, illegible months, 25 days. Husband's obituary in
1921 states that she died in "about 1907," but that would put her birth in 1862,
three years before her documented birth. An age of 44y6m25d at death on Jun 6
1910 would calculate to a birthdate of Nov 12 1865, just one day off from what
was documented. This is the basis for the death date given here as Jun 6 1910.
A death date of Jun 15 1907 was reported by nephew John W. Hart in a W. Guy
Tetrick family information survey completed in 1931. Meanwhile, Doddridge
County death records (DR Bk 2, p. 64) list a "Juliette Hildman," age 50,
married, who died at Summers on June 6, 1909 of TB. This may be the same
person, as husband Isaac did remarry and had a child in 1912.
Note (12) Obituary of Isaac Lynch Hileman incorrectly states that he and Juliet Hart
married on May 13 1881. That date, and also May 11 1881, is also reported in
