Reverend George Collins. Examination of the original handwritten entry in the ledger-style marriage record book reveals
that the date really could be interpreted either way. But since Minnie Kendall Lowther obviously consulted the original
record herself (the only way she would know the minister's name) and she would have been familiar with the handwriting
style, we accept her interpretation. p. 287-A.

Note (1) "Tichenor Families in America," p. 149, reports birthplace as either Preston
County or Barbour County, while death record of son John indicates Maryland.
Note (2) Along with unmarried daughter Nancy, enumerated in household of son George
Pritchard.
Note (3) Ritchie County marriage records show that George Pritchard and Martha Jane
Elefrit were married on Feb 10 1845. With the discrepancy in name and date,
unclear what it should be.
Note (4) "Ritchie County in History and Romance," p. 287-A, states birth date as Aug 4
1822, conflicting with birth date of older sibling. Age 35 in 1860 Census would
put birth date in about 1825, while age 48 at 1872 marriage puts it at about
1824, and age 80 at time of death also corresponds to an 1824 birth date.
Note (5) But age on headstone would put birth date at Nov 15 1825.
Note (6) "Ritchie County in History & Romance," p. 287-A, reports birth date as Feb 26
1828, death date Aug 8 1871. But "Ritchie County Cemeteries through 1993," p.
660, reports headstone reading of same death date, age 44y 5m 12d, which
calculates to a birth date of Feb 27 1827. Less credibly, "Tichenor Families in
