Event Notes
Note (1) A death date of 1847 has been reported by some researchers, probably from a
misinterpretation of court documents.  Doddridge County Chancery Court records
for the March 1840 term (then Tyler County), pertaining to the division of his
estate, show that Aaron Shinn had died sometime prior to that date.  The case
was not finalized until sometime after 1847, as the file also contains documents
from that year.  This was just the second Chancery Court case ever held in
Doddridge County, which was formed in 1845.
