The body of Benton Ash was brought home from Tennessee last Friday where he died of yellow fever six years ago. The body was accompanied by Undertaker Furbee, of Alma, who accompanied it all the way from Tennessee. The remains were taken over to the old home of the deceased Wm.Ash's at Ashley where they remained over night and were buried the next day with religious exercises appropriate to the occasion. Mrs. Ash and others from this place accompanied the remains to Ashley from this place. The body, which had been interred in limstone rock and was covered with water, was nicely petrified and looked quite natural, it is said.
NOTE: Depending on the type used, burial in limestone can either accelerate or slow the decomposition of the body.
