  Notes	Robert A. Murphy was owner of the Murphy Sanitary grocery store in West Union and was former manager of the Doddridge Window Glass Company. He was chairman of the Doddridge County Executive Committee, a former member of the School Board, and was mayor of West Union during the years of 1934 and 1935. [Obit] Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thurday, October 14 1915, in its entirety: "The many friends of R. A. Murphy will be grieved to learn that the specialists whom he is consulting in Baltimore regarding his eye have given him no encouragement, and that it has been decided not to attempt the contemplated operation, for the reason that it is now impossible to save the injured member." Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, October 21 1915, in its entirety: "Through the misinterpretation of a telegram, we misstated the facts in our last issue regarding the condition of Mr. R. A. Murphy's eye, for which he had gone to Baltimore to consult a specialist. Since his return, Mr. Murphy informs us that the reason an operation was not performed is that it was not considered necessary at this time." Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, September 7 1916, in its entirety: "R. A. Murphy of the Doddridge Glass Co. was in Huntington last week, as representative of the local lodge, Knights of Phythias, at the meeting of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia." Local news item, "West Union Record," Thursday, Oct 19 1916, in its entirety: "A fan system has been installed in the Doddridge Window Glass Plant. Sutter Brothers, of Clarksburg, have the contract for installing the system." Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Oct 24 1918, in its entirety: "The Doddridge County Window Glass factory have a force of men at work repairing the damage done their building when a train ran into it some time ago. It is not known yet when they will commence making glass, but it is thought that they will get to work some time in December."
