Obituary, West Union Record, Thursday, Jan 30 1930, in its entirety:
DODDRIDGE GIRL ENDS HER LIFE
Mrs. Nina McCune, 24, of New Milton, died January 23 in Clarksburg of burns suffered in an explosion that partially wrecked the second floor of the National Hotel.
The young woman attempted to kill herself by inhaling gas. The explosion resulted when gas escaped from her room to an adjoining one in which a fire was burning.
Mrs. McCune was a daughter of T. J. Boyce, of Flemington, and wife of Charles McCune, of Moundsville. Continued ill health is believed to have been her motive for suicide.
The body was shipped to the Osborne funeral parlors at West Union, whence it was taken to New Milton for burial.
