- He served as superintendent of the city of Asheville's Bee Tree Watershed from 1935 to 1941. From 1941 to the end of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Camp David near Wilmington, N.C., and later at the Miami Beach Service Base. As a professional engineer, he worked in the field of sanitary engineering for more than 50 years, and for 30 years he operated a private practice as a consulting engineer. For 34 years, he was a resident of Atlantic Beach, Fla., where he served as an engineering consultant and as a city commissioner. [1]
