- She came to Sissonville in 1952 to teach math and science and retired from Sissonville Junior High School in 1984, where she served as head of the math department. She was an advisor and sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society for 25 years and the local chapter was named after her upon her retirement. While at Glenville State College, she taught seven months at a one-room school near Troy, W.Va. She was honored as teacher of the year in 1974. She was a member of both the WVEA and the NEA.
