- Mrs. Rose Hanafee, widow of William Hanafee, died at her residence, 1310 E. Elm. A native and lifelong resident of New Albany, Mrs. Hanafee was the daughter of Conrad Broecker, who came to the United States from Germany, and led his pioneer family to New Albany in a covered wagon from New Orleans.
Mrs. Hanafee is survived by her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Hanafee; her sisters, Mrs. H. G. Rommell, Anchorage, Ky.; Mrs. Sherwood Hoffman, Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. Daniel Ray Trinler, Lou.; and Mrs. F. E. Burgin, New Albany; two sons, John Hanafee, Indianapolis; and George Hanafee, Louisville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
