    • In the 1880 Census of Grafton, Taylor Co WV, Mary A. Hanafee, 20, born in Virginia, was listed as servant doing housework in the household of John J. Gilligan (32, b. Ireland, dry goods merchant) and his family. Both of her parents had died two years before. In 1884 Mary Ann married Grafton resident George H. Robinette.

      NOTE: George Robinette's birth date is shown on his headstone as Oct 3 1844. Mary Hanafee Robinette's birth date is shown on her headstone as Aug 24 1862. Although Salem is a town in Harrison County, some nearby areas of Doddridge County are also referred to as Salem. In this case, it is likely that the wedding took place at a Catholic church in Harrison County. However, the license was issued and the marriage recorded in Doddridge County, residence of the bride.
