- 1910 Census, Tyler Co, WV (Meade District), enumerated on May 13 1910:
Thurman Jones, 20, farm laborer, married 2 yrs; wife Maude, 17, mother of one child (still living); dau Arzella, 1 yr zero months.
No entry was found for Thurman Jones in the 1920 Census, two years after the death of his first wife. His children were found in the home of their maternal grandparents, John E. & Ella Pyles, although the relationships were indicated otherwise in the census.
1920 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on Jan 9 1920:
John E. Pyles, 47, farm laborer; wife Ella Pyles, 35; nephew Vella Jones, 11; nephew Guy Jones, 7; niece Ruth Jones, 3 yr 1 mo.
Local Cabin Run news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, January 24, 1929, in its entirety:
"Thurman Jones' baby died last Saturday with pneumonia fever and was buried Sunday at 2:30, its parents who are down with the flu were unable to attend the funeral."
(Note: The deceased child was Ralph Earl Jones, b. Oct 11 1927, d. Jan 20 1929, whose death record states cause of death as measles and flu.)

Thurman Jones, 38, farm overseer, age 17 at time of first marriage; wife Belle, 32, age 15 at first marriage; son Guy, 17; dau Vergie, 8; son Thurman, 6; son Freddie, 4; son Kenneth, 4 months.
1940 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on May 11 1940 (location originally specified as Greenwood, which was crossed out):
Thurman A. Jones, 52, farmer; wife Belle, 45; dau Virgie M, 19; son Thurman Jr, 16; son Royce F, 14; son Leonard K, 10; son Avery A, 7; son Franklin D. G., 2; father Darwin C, 86, widowed. Residence as of Apr 1935 entered as Toll Gate in Ritchie County for all except Franklin (left blank) and Darwin (entered as Pullman).
