Mr. Smith was a man of healthy build, but he could not withstand the ravages of that dreaded disease. The interment took place at the Coleman cemetery Monday. He leaves a wife and large family. Age in 1860 Census was four. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as May 1881, age 19. But birth record and headstone show it as May 29 1880. Note (3) "History of Doddridge County," p. 362, incorrectly states her birth as Jul 23 1889. The obituary of her death on Jul 14 1951 lists birth date as Jul 23 1887 and her age as 64 (that actually would make her nine days short of her 64th birthday), and her birth record also shows she was born on Jul 23 1887. Her grave marker indicates her birth only as the year 1887. Note (4) "History of Doddridge County" gives marriage date as April 1917, but marriage record has it as Jul 8 1917. Note (5) Age 26 given in his 1924 marriage record would put birth in about 1898, while age 50 in his 1953 marriage record puts it in about 1903. But age 37 in 1930 Census puts it in about 1893, and the 1900 Census gives age as 7, born in Oct 1892.
