Discharged, being promoted to 2nd Lieut Co. H, 4th W.Va. Infantry, 28 Aug 1863, Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia. Promoted to 2nd Lieut Co. H, 4th W.Va. Infantry, 29 Aug 1863. Allen enlisted in Co A, 14th W.Va. Infantry, on 28 Jul 1862 at West Union. He mustered in as a 7th Corporal at Wheeling on 23 Aug 1862. Muster rolls show that at some point he was reduced in rank to Private and that he was sick at home as of 7 Jul 1863. He died at home of typhoid fever on 27 Aug 1863 while on sick furlough from US General Hospital in Cumberland, Maryland.Name Index
