Event Notes Note (1) Sons of the American Revolution application indicates his birthplace as Holbrook in Ritchie County. But Findagrave reports it as Greenwood, Doddridge County, which appears more likely. Note (2) Military records show that Newton G. Waldo enlisted in Co H, 4th W.Va. Cavalry, at West Union on Aug 1 1863. He mustered in as a Private on Aug 29 1863 in Parkersburg. He mustered out at a Private on Mar 8 1864 in Wheeling. NOTE: The state-issued Civil War medal intended for him was never claimed and remains in storage at the West Virginia State Archives in Charleston. Note (3) Identified in "Davis - The Settlers of Salem WV," p. 124 as Rosalie D. Bond, b. Jun 20 1853, and the name on her headstone is also Rosalie. But SAR application of grandson identifies her as Rosetta Bond, b. Jun 20 1854. Marriage record also gives her name as Rosetta. SAR reports her death date as Feb 1941, but her headstone shows it as Jan 18 1941.Name Index
