Note (1) Leola Williams Andrews gives birthdate as 1816
Note (2) News article from the "Marietta Daily Leader" of 20 May 1898:
"W. H. Hoskinson, a highly esteemed citizen of Alpha, Doddridge county, was
instantly killed at West Union on Wednesday.  Hoskinson was walking through town
when No. 3 express came rushing through the place at the rate of 50 miles an
hour.  The train struck him, throwing him a considerable distance ahead of the
engine.  His head struck the end of a tie, mashing his skull, and his brains
were scattered over the ground.  He was struck the second time and again thrown
a considerable distance, nearly all the bones of his body being broken.  The
deceased was in the employ of the South Penn Oil Co. and was 60 years of age. 
--  Parkersburg Sentinel."
Note (3) There are two markers for the grave of Sarah C. Hoskinson, with conflicting
dates for her birthdate.  The original marker reads "Sarah C. Hoskinson, died
July 28 1865, age 18 yrs."  A much newer one reads "Sarah C. Hoskinson, 1845 -
July 28 1865, daug of John K. and Sarah A."
Note (4) Birth date given as Dec 1846 in 1900 Census.
Note (5) Age 87y 5m 29 in death record would put birth date at Apr 4 1856.  But 1900
Census shows her birth date as May 1856.
Note (6) Listed Amanda Hoskinson, 14, in the household of Robert & Elizabeth McClain
and their children Sarah, James and Jacob.
Note (7) Birth date given as May 1860 in 1900 Census, but age 22 in 1880 Census would
put it in about 1858.  Date on headstone is May 4 1858.
