Note (1) Birthplace given in record of first marriage was Harrison Co, but record of
second marriage states Marion Co.
Note (2) The U.S. Census of 1870 gives William O. Vincent's occupation as a farmer and
states that neither he nor his wife could read or write.
Note (3) Headstone has birth and death dates as Jun 15 1835 and Dec 29 1928. But
death record states Jun 16 1836 and Dec 30 1828, age 92y 6m 14d, which would
conform with those dates. His age in the 1860 Census was given as 22 (b. ca
1838), in the 1900 Census as 60 (born June 1839), in the 1910 Census as 71 (b.
ca 1839), and in the 1920 Census as 82 (b. ca 1838).
Note (4) Age 10 in the 1850 Census puts birth in about 1840, while age 17 in August
1858 marriage record puts it in about 1841, age 33 in son's 1878 birth record
puts it in about 1845, and age 88 at March 1923 death puts birth in about 1834.
Birth date on headstone is Jul 20 (?) 1839. Some researchers report her birth
date as June 20 1841.
Note (5) This date is under a column labeled "Date of License," with no provision for
recording the date of the marriage itself. His age is listed as 20, son of N.
C. Freshure. Her age given as 14.
Note (6) Age 74y 6m 15d in obituary calculates to a birth date of Sep 3 1846. But her
birth date was reported as Aug 1847 in the 1900 Census, and her headstone also
has birth date 1847.
