Fleming Jr. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Apr 1837. But date on headstone is 1838, which also conforms to age 75 given in obituary and death record. Note (3) Held as POW at Andersonville Prison for seven months, and at Libby Prison for three months. Obituary indicates that his unit was Co H, 14th W.Va. Inf, but military records show that it was Co A, 14th W.Va. Inf. Captured at the same time was his cousin Harvey Smith, who had stayed behind to aid his wounded comrade.
