Event Notes
Note (1) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Apr 1837.  But date on headstone is 1838,
which also conforms to age 75 given in obituary and death record.
Note (2) Held as POW at Andersonville Prison for seven months, and at Libby Prison for
three months.  Obituary indicates that his unit was Co H, 14th W.Va. Inf, but
military records show that it was Co A, 14th W.Va. Inf.  Captured at the same
time was his cousin Harvey Smith, who had stayed behind to aid his wounded
comrade.
Note (3) Birth date given in death record as May 17 1847.  But 1900 Census shows it as
May 1846, and date on headstone is also 1846.  It is noted, however, that the
date of Lydia's father's remarriage to Elizabeth Fleming Constable was Sep 6
1845.  If Lydia's mother was indeed Mary Thomas, Lydia's birth would had to have
been prior to Sep 1845.
Note (4) Also in their household was Elizabeth Archbold, age 66, relationship not
given.
