Halie's sister Hazel married Frank Broadwater, relationship to Russell not known, if any at all. Although identified as "Eldwin Carroll" in the marriage record, obituary of wife identified him as "Elden (Hez) Carroll.", MR Bk 13, p. 30. Event Notes Note (1) Birth date on headstone is 1855, but 1900 Census shows it as Sep 1856 and marriage record specifies Sep 18 1856. Note (2) Birthplace given as Trenton, New Jersey, in daughter Eunice's birth record, but as West Virginia in 1900 Census, and New York in 1910 Census. Trenton is in Mercer County, but Ida's marriage record states her birthplace as Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Her birthplace was given as New Jersey in the birth records of other children as well. Birth date given in 1900 Census as Jun 1861, but age given in marriage record and obituary would put birth in about 1863 or 1864, while date on headstone is 1865. Neither birthplace nor birth date nor parents were mentioned in her obituary. Her 1930 Census entry states her birthplace as New Jersey, her father's birthplace as Ireland, and her mother's as Pennsylvania. Note (3) Obituary states burial as IOOF Cemetery, but the headstone for her and her husband is located at the upper portion of the old SDB section of Blockhouse Hill Cemetery. Note (4) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Sep 1890, and in her obituary as Sep 2 1892. But her birth record shows it as Sep 2 1891. Note (5) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Sep 1893, but birth record and WW I Draft Registration show it as Sep 24 1894. Note (6) Listed in mother's obituary as a surviving son, address unknown. Note (7) In 1930, listed as Heze Carroll, a boarder, single, in the household of James & Sarah (Pickens) Barr. In 1940, listed as Eldwyn Carrol in the household of Sheriff Eli Marshal Nutter, whose residence was the Doddridge County Jail. The entry implies that he was an inmate.
