(2) Certificate (MR p. 130): Identified as Jasper N. Scott, 30, b. & res. in Doddridge Co; and Mary Adaline Underwood, 20, b. & res. in Tyler Co. Married Aug 1 1886 at Fairview Church. Informants: J. N. Scott & Oliver Underwood. (Note: Regarding the discrepancies between the two records, Jasper's age was 2 in the 1860 Census of Monongalia County, and he was 12 in the 1870 Census of Doddridge County, while Mary's age was 11 in the 1880 Census of Tyler County, but she was absent from the 1870 Census. This leads to the conclusion that Jasper was born about 1858 in Monongalia County, and Mary was born about 1870 in Tyler County. But the date on his headstone is April 25 1848. Age 62y 3m 13d in his death record calculates to a birth date of Apr 26 1848. Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as December 1847, but death record states Dec 15 1846. Birthplace given in death record as Tyler County, but marriage record and census records indicate Pennsylvania. Note (3) Although her death record indicates that she died at West Union Star Route, West Union District, Doddridge County, her obituary states that she "died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jasper Scott, of Wilbur." Wilbur is in Tyler County, near the county line with Doddridge. Her death record incorrectly states her birthplace as Tyler County rather than Greene Co Pa., and also incorrectly identifies her father as Jacob Dye rather than Samuel Dye.
