That report was based on Doddridge County Probate Records (Bk 1, p. 168) showing that on Aug 13 1895, Isaac Husk was appointed "guardian of Rosa (sic) A. Hart, orphan of William Hart and Sarah J. Hart." Sarah Husk Hart had died in Jan 1879, and Isaac Husk was the child's grandfather. Billy Hart remarried his cousin Mary Catherine "Kate" Hart in Sep 1879, and they later divorced, presumably prior to the 1895 court action for guardianship. Harrison County Marriage Records show that this William Hart remarried Eliza Harlow on Jan 4 1901. Subsequent reporting of his death occurring on Jul 8 1927 was also incorrect. That was based on a family history survey conducted by W. Guy Tetrick in 1931 and completed by William's nephew John W. Hart, stating that William Hart was born on June 5 1850 and died on July 8 1927. Both of those dates have since been found to be incorrect. Age 19 yrs 6 months given at time of William's marriage in Apr 1870 would put birth date at about Oct 1850. More significantly, Harrison County death records show that William Hart, widowed, born Sep 26 1850, died Feb 14 1924 in the town of Ocean Mines (Simpson District), burial at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. (Headstone there is hand-inscribed with birth date 1850, but incorrect death date of 1923.) Identificaton of his parents as William Hart and ___ Harlow by informant George Hart of Ocean Mines (relationship not stated, but determined to be William's son) is considered an error, apparently stemming from the informant providing the names of his own parents, rather than those of the deceased.
