Husband's obituary (West Union Record, Aug 20 1931) states that she died on Nov 30 1889, . Note (2) Headstone, located adjacent to that of the child's mother, reads: "Infant child of H. W. & S. L. Thomas; Died April 24, 1872." Note (3) Birth record states birth date as Dec 17 1881. But his World War I draft registration shows it as Jan 13 1881, and the 1900 Census also has it as January 1881. It is noted that the birth record is typewritten ledger whose entries were transcribed from the original handwritten records. Considering the consistency of the January date, it is likely that the December date was the result of a transcription error. Note (4) Birth date recorded in death record as Apr 17 1888. Note (5) Maude Thomas appears to have been enumerated twice in this census, once with her family, and again in the household of her sister Blanch, in which she was listed as a servant.
