Event Notes
Note (1) In 1850, listed as a laborer in the household of Franklin Maxwell.
Note (2) According to family legend, he returned from the war complaining of stomach
pains, and died not long afterwards.
Note (3) Her obituary states that "funeral services were conducted at the M.P. church,
Cabin Run" and that "interment was in the M.P. churchyard."  But no headstone or
grave marker for her is found at Cabin Run Cemetery.  However, there is a
headstone (flat marker) for her at Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake (West
Union), Doddrige County.  The marker is inscribed:  Sarah O. Leggett, 1833-1918.
We were informed by her great-granddaughter, Carolyn Leggett Gaston, that
Sarah's remains were removed from Cabin Run in the 1940s and reinterred in the
Leggett plot at the Masonic Cemetery.
Note (4) Her name, and that of her father, appears with the double-S spelling of
"Douglass" throughout the marriage record.
