Note (2) Presumed. He was not in 1870 Census with rest of family. Note (3) Age 45 in Jan 1921 marriage record would put birth in about 1875. That same marriage record indicates his birthplace as Roane County, while Ritchie County has also been reported by some researchers. But his Social Security application states that he was born on Oct 16 1862 in Doddridge County, which conforms to his death record and his entries in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses.
