Note (2) Minute Books on file at the Doddridge County Courthouse contain the following
entry for the October 1847 term:
"Elizabeth Miller of this County having died intestate more than three months
ago and no person having applied for administration of her goods and chattel, it
is ordered that William F. Randolph, Sheriff of Doddridge County, take the
estate of the said Elizabeth Miller, deceased, into his possession and
administer the same according to law."
Note (3) In present-day Doddridge County, probably between Blandville and New
Milton.
Note (4) The Harrison County death record for Levi Douglass of May 3 1871 is either in
error or pertains to a different Levi Douglass. The deceased is identified as
Levi Douglass, widowed, age 75, born in 1796, parents "not known," occupation
farmer, died May 3 1871 in Elk Twp, Harrison Co WV, cause of death "old age."
Informant: J. H. Taylor, Recorder. "Cemeteries of Elk District, Harrison
County WV," p. 26, reports headstone for Levi Douglas Jr., d. May 2 1871, age
87y 5m 21d. That age with that death date calculates to a birth date of Nov 11
1783.
