    • Wedding announcement, West Union Herald, July 5 1951:
      "Hickman entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was sent overseas that year. He was honorably discharged from the service in June 1946. He then accepted a position as manager of the post exchange in Mannheim. In 1947 he was transferred to a store in Heidelberg, and in 1948 he entered the Post Engineers where he is now employed. The couple are spending their honemoon in Switzerland. They plan to come to the United States this fall."

      According to his sister-in-law Susie Nutter Hickman, he returned to the U.S. from Germany and lived in Long Island, New York, where he was a senior buyer for Hazeltine Electronics. Upon his retirement in 1978, he and his wife returned to West Germany.
