    Notes:

    In his early years, he worked as a carpenter, farmer, stockman, and oil field operator. He served as sheriff of Doddridge County for eight years, and was a member of the Doddridge County Commission for 12 years. During his tenure as sheriff and county commissioner, he was instrumental in the funding and expansion of the Doddridge County Senior Citizens Center and the Doddridge County Parks and Recreation Center. He was also responsible for a new water and sewage system in the Smithburg and West Union areas, and he was involved in acquiring the Outpost Library for the county.
