As a talented dancer in elementary school, she teamed up with Joe Baker to form Baker and Moore, a song-and-dance team that performed several times weekly for four years in Pittsburgh and throughout Western Pennsylvania. Her earnings helped her parents and seven siblings, many of them married with children, through the Great Depression. In later years, after working as a freelance stenographer for several years, she became a court reporter in 1985 for Washington County Common Pleas Judge Thomas J. Terputac, a position she held for more than 11 years until her retirement in 1997. She taught Sunday school, served as a Cub Scout leader and participated in many community, social and service organizations in Houston and Chartiers.
