    • At a young age John began working with horses in the field of harness racing as a professional trainer and driver, later working for world-renowned Billy Howton Training Stables. By the early 1970s, he had become an accomplished sulky driver, winning the 1973 Keystone Presto. In 1980 he settlcd in DeLand. He loved horse-racing, baseball, NASCAR, and hunting with his brothers and friends. John looked forward to every November, when he would go back home to West Virginia to spend at least one week at his brother Bo's place to hunt and visit with as many of his family members and old friends as he could.
