      Identified as Delbert Ash, white male, married, teamster; died on November 16th in Salem, age 34y 6m 2d, cause of death tuberculosis. The manner in which this and other entries were made in the ledger-style death record book makes it unclear whether the year of death was 1908 or 1909. Assuming a death date of Nov 16 1908, the stated age calculates to a birth date of May 14 1874. A death date of Nov 16 1909 calculates to a birth date of May 14 1875. Since his birth date is known from his birth record to be May 31 1875 (confirmed in 1880 and 1900 censuses), it is assumed that the 1909 death date is the correct one.
