May 1843, divorced, mother of 8 children (7 still living); grandson Fillmore S. Brown, 19, b. Feb 1881, day laborer, single; son-in-law Samuel V. Brown, 65, b. Jan 1835, divorced.
In the 1910 Census, Samuel V. Brown was living without his wife in the household of his son James in Grafton. His marital status was left blank. Sarah was enumerated in Clarksburg as head of household, marital status widowed, with three "roomers" but no other family members. Death records of both Samuel & Sarah Brown show marital status as widowed. [4]
