- Bill D. Kiger, 67, of Route 2, Salem, Big Flint community, Doddridge County, died at 4:09 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2000, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a long illness. He was born June 22, 1932, a son of the late Arthur Kiger and Clara Allan Kiger Starcher.
His wife, Ina J. Moore Kiger, whom he married June 9, 1955, preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, M. Todd Kiger, Clarksburg, and Mark Kiger, Route 2, Salem, Sedalia Community, and two grandsons, Andrew and Blake Kiger, both of Clarksburg.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Berle Kiger.
Mr. Kiger was a U.S. Air Force veteran with service during the Korean War. He retired in 1991 from the Weirton Steel Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. He was a 25 Year Club member of Weirton Steel and a life-member of the Doddridge County Historical Society. He was a former board member of the North Bend Rail-Trail Foundation, where he had also served as former treasurer. He was a member of the Salem Lions Club, where he served as secretary and tail twister. He was also a member of the Salem Apple Butter Festival Committee. He was a charter member and avid rider with the Cyclepaths Bike Club. He was a trustee for the Center Point Cemetery Association and a member of American Legion Post No. 25, West Union. He was an avid photographer, with many of his photographs appearing in local newspapers and the CNG calendar. He was the feature front-page photographer for over one year in the West Virginia Hometown Shopper. He was a collector of die-cast scale cars and enjoyed genealogical research.
