    • There has been much confusion over the birth date of Samuel A. McNemar. His headstone reads Dec 30 1830. A delayed birth record for son Joseph, submitted by daughter Margaret Martin on Feb 24 1953, gives Samuel's age at Joseph's Nov 1878 birth as 48, making Samuel's birth Dec 1829. Samuel's age at death of 87y1m19d reported by the doctor puts his birth at Dec 31 1828, while age at death of 89 reported by the undertaker puts it in about 1826/27. Age 21 given at marriage puts birth about 1837, while age 26 in 1860 Census makes it about 1834.

      Two handwritten entries, one after the other, give place of death as Cokeleys and Rutherford, marital status as widower and married, and age at death as 89 yrs and 87y1m19d. The first entry was made by the undertaker, the second by Dr. Rexroad. The latter specific age would put date of birth at Dec 31 1828.
