- Janice was a 1967 graduate of Doddridge County High School, a 1970 graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education, in 1976 she received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development from West Virginia University, in 1991 she received a Master Degree in Education Administration from West Virginia University.

- Janice taught in Merryhill Nursery School, Sacramento, California. Upon returning to West Virginia, she taught in Preston County. She then returned to Doddridge County where she became teaching/Principal at Middle Island Grade School and taught at West Union Grade School. Janice then became the principal of the new Doddridge County Middle School in 1992. In 2005 she was hired by the Doddridge County Board of Education as the Superintendent of Schools for Doddridge County. She retired from that position on February 28, 2011.
Janice had served as Chairman of the Board of the United Technical Center, Clarksburg, and she served many years on the Advisory Council of Regional Education Service Agencies VII. She also served on the committee for Doddridge County Citizen of the Year Award.
