- 1910 Census, Harrison County, WV (Clark District), enumerated on April 16, 1910:
J. V. Carter, 52, contractor for water wells, married 30 yrs; wife Louisa C, 50, married 30 yrs, mother of 7 children (6 still living); son Bryan, 12; son John, 10; dau Ethel Zinn, 22, married 2 yrs, mother of 2 children (both still living); son-in-law Guy Zinn, 23, baseball player in league; grandson Guy Zinn Jr, 1 yr 10 mo; granddau Jean G. Zinn, 3 months. All born in West Virginia.
1920 Census, Harriosn County, WV (Clark District, City of Clarksburg), enumerated on January 5, 1920 at 214 Point Street:;
Jackson V. Carter, 62, Desk Sergeant for City Police; wife Louise C, 60; son Asby B, 22, single, shoe salesman in department store; dau Ethel B. Zinn, 31, married; grandson Guy A. Zinn, 11; granddau Jean Zinn.
NOTE: No entry was found for Guy Zinn in the 1920 Census.
By the time of the 1930 Census, Guy and Ethel Zinn had divorced.
The 1930 Census of Clarksburg, Harrison Co WV, an enumeration of the Harrison Childrens Home on U.S. Route 19 found Ethel Zinn, 40, divorced, as the institution's matron. She was assisted by one 20-yr-old cook and one 17-yr-old helper, both single females. The three adults were responsible for 29 children of both sexes, ages 4 to 14, listed as inmates of the institution.

The 1930 Census of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co, New York, found Guy Zinn, 41, b. Virginia [sic], married [sic], occupation solicitor for metal lathing, a lodger in the household of Unice A. Anibal, 53, b. NY, divorced, operator in underwear industry.
The two Zinn children, Guy and Jean, now 21 and 20, were residing at 430-1/2 Lee Street in Clarksburg, renting from Dr. Curtis T. Arnett and his family. Neither was employed.
