- Richard's middle initial is given as "C" in marriage record, but as "L" on wife's headstone. In both cases, the spelling of the surname is Weekly. But in most other records, he is identified as Richard L. Weekley.
In May 1860, Richard married Mary Baker Beverlin, widow of Benjamin.

(NOTE: All listed with surname Weekley. The children, however, probably should have been listed with the Beverlin surname.)
1870 Census, Tyler Co, WV (McElroy District), enumerated on Jul 9 1870:
Richard Weekley, 40, farmer, value of real estate $800, value of personal estate $500; Mary, 45, cannot read or write; Benjamin, 13.
As a widower, Richard married his second wife, Margaret Ash, March 1877. She died of consumption in June 1879.
1880 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (McClellan District), enumerated on Jun 10 1880:
Richard L. Weekley, 51, farmer, widowed; stepdau Susanna Gain, 27, widowed; stepson William Gain, 9; stepson Perry R. Gain, 6; stepdau Mary E. Gain, 4; stepdau Minna M. Gain, 1.
(NOTE: The four younger children are actually the stepgrandchildren of Richard Weekley.)
Richard married his third wife, Philothata Davis Bonnell, widow of John B. Bonnell, in September 1880.
1900 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (McClellan District), enumerated on Jun 5 1900:
Richard L. Weekley, 70, b. May 1830, farmer, married 20 yrs; wife Philothata, 67, b. Dec 1832, married 20 yrs, mother of 6 children (5 still living); granddau Maud Gain, 9, b. Aug 1890.
(NOTE: Maud Gain was actually Richard's step-greatgranddaughter, daughter of his grandson William Gain, who was a son of Jesse H. Gain and Susannah Beverlin.)
