"Vance Gaskins, who has been clerk at the Columbian hotel for some length of time, returned to home at Canton on Thursday, and A. E. Strickling has taken his place."
(Note: Albert Strickling's sister-in-law, Mary India Ripley Cheuvront, was the proprietor of the Columbian Hotel.)

"Albert Strickling and family have moved to Grafton, where Mr. Strickling has a position in a glass factory. C. S. Pease has moved into the property vacated by them on South Columbian Street."

"We regret to announce that Mr. and Mrs. Albert Strickling are moving to Grafton; better citizens never came to West Union and better neighbors no man ever had. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pease and family will move into the Strickling home, and while they are usually considered mighty nice fold -- mighty nice folks -- we will wait a little while before givin' them any further 'send off' -- to see how we get along with 'em!"
