    • Jonas J Dennison joined for duty August 4, 1862 in West Union. Mustered in a Private in Co. A, 14th West Virginia Infantry on August 23, 1862. He was absent on subsequent Company Muster Rolls and was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate of Disability at New Creek, W.Va. on April 15, 1863. The Company Discriptive Book states that he was born in Lewis County, occupation farmer, age 22, 5'8" is height, complexion dark, hair black. His reason for discharge stated on this record was insanity. The 1890 Veterans Schedule confirms the reason for discharge was "insanity by fever and exposure." Dennison was residing in Avon, Doddridge County at the time of the 1890 Veterans Schedule.
