- The death record on file at the Doddridge County Clerk's office indicates Thomas Bennett's middle name as McCarroll and that he was single, while the death certificate at the West Virginia Division of Vital Statistics shows his middle name as McCarl and marital status married. In both cases the informant was R. E. Bennett (his sister Rebecca Elizabeth). with place of death Central District of Doddridge County and burial in the County Cemetery. This make it almost certain that his place of death was the County Infirmary, also known as the County Poor Farm, located about five miles outside West Union on Sunnyside Road. That institution no longer exists, but the nearby County Cemetery, containing countless unmarked graves, can still be found. Other than his death certificate, there is no record of Thomas McC. Bennett's burial location.
