      "We sincerely regret to announce the very serious illness of James P. Gain, of of Arnolds Creek's oldest and most highly respected citizens: Mr. Gain, who is nearing 70 years, is afflicted with pneumonia, and his recovery is a matter of grave doubt, but friends and relatives are hoping for the best."
