      There was an earlier marriage license issued for this couple in Doddridge County, on Dec 8 1858, which was apparently never used. In it, the wife was identified as Catharine Mathew, 27, dau of Nimphra S. J. Mathew. The handwritten entry is not clear and was presumably intended to be Humphrey Mathew.
