    • Ray Sharps enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1944 and retired as a lieutenant after serving more than 30 years. Subsequent to his retirement from active duty, he became a safety officer for the Navy, serving at NAD St. Julians Creek and NAD Yorktown. He served as chairman of the Federal Safety Council in 1975.
