    Notes 
    • Rosa's natural father was Andrew McKeown, son of Patrick and Mary, but Andrew and Virginia Ellen Harter were not married and apparently never had a domestic relationship. Based on available records, it is not clear what surname Rosa used prior to her marriage. In the 1880 Census, she was listed as Rosa G. Harter, granddaughter of William M. Harter, with her mother also in the household as Virginia E. Harter, marital status single. In Rosa's marriage record, she was identified as Rosa McCuan, daughter of Andrew and Ella McCuan. And in her death record she was identified as Rosa Geneva Nicholas, daughter of Vess McGarry and Ellen Harter. Robert Sylvester "Vess" McGary would have been her stepfather.
