Smith, widowed, farmer, born July 2 1844 in Barbour Co, father (not given), mother Mary Smith (born in Barbour Co); died Jan 1 1929 in West Union District, age 84y 5m 29d, cause of death blood poisoning, burial at Arnolds Creek Cemetery on Jan 3 1929. Informant: Creed Smith. (Note: An entry had been made in the space for father's name, but had then been lined out. Although greatly obscured, the visible portion could be interpreted to read Irving Smith. Burial location has been verified by his headston as being at Ruley Cemetery at Arnolds Creek, not at the Doddridge County cemetery known as Arnolds Creek Cemetery.)

      (NOTE: There is no mention of this marriage in husband's obituary. In the 1920 Census at the Doddridge County Infirmary (poor farm), the wife was listed as an "inmate," identified as Anna M. Lipscomb, 33, widowed, along with several of her children. So it seems likely that this couple were soon divorced or the marriage annulled. She remarried in 1921.)
