- Died of wounds received in a gas explosion while working for Hope Natural Gas Company at the station at Porto Rico, Doddridge Co. He was a former employee of the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Gas Company, having worked there about five years. He had only begun working for the Hope Company the day of the accident. Excerpted from his obituary: "'Jimmie' was a kind and noble son and brother and will be greatly missed in the home and in the community by all who knew him, for he was always jolly, good-humored and greeted everyone with a song and a smile."
