      Prominent Ritchie Citizen Killed
      Jacob Watson, a prominent farmer residing on Brushy Fork about 20 miles below Auburn, Ritchie County, was thrown from his horse near the Summerville bridge Thursday morning of last week and received injuries from which he died about one o'clock Monday morning.
      From the time the unfortunate man was found, he was conscious for only a short time -- about an hour.
      The condition of his face and head indicated that the horse had stepped in his face after he was thrown.
      He was about 50 years of age and is survived by a wife (formerly Miss Clara Fisher) and three daughters. A brother, Scott Watson, a well-known B & O conductor, also survives.
      Mr. Watson was one of the most prominent and widely known stockmen and farmers in this section of the state, and his tragic death has cast a deep gloom over the entire state.
