NOTE: Relationships of everyone except for his wife and daughter were entered as "Relative." Myrle Squires is actually Marion's first cousin, daughter of Andrew Jackson Squires (b. WVa) & Jessie Booker Brown (b. England). According to her birth record, Dorothea Phyllis Howard was born in West Union on Jun 16 1920, daughter of Frank Howard and Myrle Squires. In the 1940 Census of West Union District, Myrle Squires was head of household, marital status single, with son William McCullough and daughters Dorothy Howard & Mary Louise McCullough. Charles Jackson Layton was a son of Lester Lee Layton and Myrle's sister Ellen Grace Squires.
1940 Census, Harrison County, WV (Tenmile District), enumerated on May 16, 1940 in the community of Wolf Summit:
Marion Squires, 41, oiler for gas company, 7 yrs education; wife Kate, 37, 1 yr high school; dau Norma, 6 [sic], 3 yrs high school. All born in West Virginia and residing in the same house in 1935.
