| Notes |
- For eleven years, Paul Warren Brown was an inspector for the state of West Virginia, contracting jobs for the Department of Highways. He was Sunday School superintendant at Calvary United Methodist Church for 16 years, and in January 1976 he became lay leader of the church. The author of Christian poems and songs, he had one book published, entitled "From the Master's Hand." One of his poems was translated into seven different languages. His death was the result of drowning. He had entered the West Fork River in Harrison County in a boat, searching for another boat, when his own vessel capsized. He was able to hang on to a tree until a rescue team from the West Milford VFD arrived in another boat. But he lost his footing on the tree when the rescue boat was beside him. He then grabbed for the rescue boat and it flipped over, sending him and the three rescuers into the water. The firefighters were able to make it to safety, but he was not, and his body was not recovered until two months later. [1]
