- He worked for P & M Oil Company for 13 years, and for Consolidated Gas Company for 20 years as a driller, tool dresser and bailing machine operator from 1969 to 1989. He graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, entering in 1950. He served in the 518th Combat Engineering in Austria and Germany from 1951 to 1952 and was discharged in 1956.
