He was a successful businessman in Doddridge County for many years, operating a mechanical body shop and garage, a used car business, McGill's Wrecker Service, and one of the earliest-licensed salvage yards in West Virginia. He had operated his businesses under the name of McGill's Inc. since the early 1960s. He dealt in real estate, owning several parcels throughout the county. He was a former operator of the Tyler County Speedway and owned his own racing vehicle. [2]
